Although this is an estimate,
it was said that Anna earned around 15 million US dollars in 1999. From
those, about 1 million came from tennis earnings. The rest of the money come
from her different advertisers such as Adidas, Yonex, Berlei, Schwab,
etc....
Is Anna
improving her game or is wishful thinking ?
Well this is pretty much an
opinion but here it is! At 16, Anna made a semifinal at Wimbledon and a few
months later defeated 4 top 10 players in 4 straight matches at Key Biscane
before losing in a 3 set match to Venus Williams.. She seemed to be
following the steps of Hingis and the Williams sisters. Unfortunatly, one
week before defending her title at Wimbledon, Anna was playing in Eastbourne
and during a match against Steffi Graf (which she won), she injured her
thumb which caused her to miss several months... Since then, things have
just been up dans down... Anna has played exceptional matches and good
tournaments but also struggled with her serve and with more injuries.. But I
think Anna got it back together last year at the end of the year where she
was playing great and only losing to Hingis in a few tournaments (including
the final in Moscow..). So let's hope Anna can put things all together and
get to the top!
